Hello all supporters,<\/b>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Thanks for your patience and your support. With VioletTM\u00a0<\/sup>we want to create\u00a0the best possible device\u00a0and user experience so you\u00a0fall in love with it. We also want the device to improve your\u00a0lives and help you\u00a0understand and educate yourself about the impact of UV rays and vitamin D on your\u00a0bodies and long term health.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

We realize you have been waiting for a while now to receive and use your\u00a0VioletTM<\/sup>\u00a0and start using it to enjoy the sun without damaging\u00a0your skin and we are working hard to reach this goal. We have been busy\u00a0<\/sup>doing a lot of testing because of issues and challenging cases other wearables like activity trackers don’t\u00a0encounter. \u00a0VioletTM\u00a0<\/sup>needs to be exposed to the sun to make accurate measurements and we have been improving our\u00a0algorithms to take into account the placement of the device. But the\u00a0major reason for the shipping delay has been manufacturing. As a small start up it is hard for us to get priority in the factory line.<\/p>\n

To speed up the device shipment, we decided\u00a0to have two production runs. All pre-order customers will have the privilege to be part of the first batch. This batch is smaller because our manufacturing facility can prioritize small runs\u00a0and we wanted you\u00a0to get VioletTM<\/sup> as early as possible. \u00a0We have thus stopped\u00a0pre-orders on our website to focus on the 1st batch but don’t worry,\u00a0we will soon re-open orders for the 2nd larger batch of production. You can register your email on our website to be notified when we get close to ship our 2nd batch of products.<\/p>\n

Now, for all of you who pre-ordered and are waiting for your VioletTM<\/sup>, here is an update on where we are at:<\/p>\n

There are four\u00a0major tasks and challenges we are working on in parallel and hope to finish before we start our first shipment of\u00a0VioletTM<\/sup><\/span>.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

(1) Product\u00a0quality:<\/strong> We sent our engineering team to China and worked with our manufacturer’s\u00a0engineering team\u00a0to make sure that\u00a0VioletTM<\/sup><\/span>\u00a0is manufactured exactly the way\u00a0we wanted. We wanted to share with you\u00a0some pictures\u00a0of the trip.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

From this trip, \u00a0we have solved\u00a0most of the engineering problems.\u00a0However, there is an unexpected delay in this process. There are some issues about an excessive\u00a0transient current drawing from the battery that requires some attention. In simpler words, the battery drains faster than we expected. As a small startup with limited resources, we have\u00a0to spend\u00a0more time resolving these issues.\u00a0Though it will affect the shipping date, we are confident that we will deliver a high quality\u00a0VioletTM\u00a0<\/sup><\/span>to your hands as soon as we can. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

(2) Functionality<\/strong> We are preparing our device for UV exposure studies by 3rd parties.\u00a0<\/span>We are working on setting up <\/span>some contacts with Australian and Indian universities that study UV\u00a0sensors\/atmospheric monitoring focused on radiation to perform field testing and\u00a0get a better understanding of how Violet performs on\u00a0the field. We don’t wantVioletTM \u00a0<\/sup>to be yet another gadget. Our goal is to develop a high standard\u00a0solution to allow users to safely enjoy the sun.<\/span><\/p>\n

(3) Testing:\u00a0<\/strong>We want to broaden our beta testing group because we believe in personalized medicine and the more users we test with the better the quality. This will require extra time but eventually a better product.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

(4) Companion app:<\/strong> Finally, we released an early version of the Violet companion app a few months ago and we are improving it to seamlessly work with our device. The app uses the UV Index forecast to measure the user UV exposure. It is not very accurate as it doesn’t track the real UV dose received by the user and forecast data is not always precise but it is a very good educational tool. The app is free in the Android Google Play store. You can download it here<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Both our Android and iOS apps are in progress and we are working on improving the\u00a0Bluetooth communication with the device and adding features.<\/p>\n
